Derrick Walker is a proud music educator, band director, fine-arts leader, arranger, drill designer, clinician, and independent Music Education Consultant with more than 25 years of experience in music education, ensemble leadership, program development, and student mentorship. His career has been shaped by a commitment to building strong music programs, developing student performers, and using music education as a pathway to discipline, scholarship, leadership, and lifelong opportunity.

A native of Meridian, Mississippi, Walker's musical foundation is rooted in the traditions of high school and HBCU-style marching excellence. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a master's degree in Educational Leadership from National University; and a Doctorate in Christian Leadership and Management from Mainseed Christian University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Walker served as Director of Bands at Jackson High School (Jackson, LA), Christian Life Academy (Baton Rouge, LA), Baker High School (Baker, LA), and Cedar Hill High School (Cedar Hill, TX). Under his leadership, his ensembles consistently earned superior and excellent ratings at local, state, and regional concert evaluations and with over 60 marching band competition victories and 2 USBands Grand National Championships.
